Perhaps this is just a demonstration of force to shut up the Neocons, and the US public, as well to prove once and for all that he's not a Russian Puppet. This attack also sends a message to the Chinese as it coincided with Trumps dinner with Xi. Furthermore, Trump warned the Russians before the attack, who would have surely warned the Syrians. The damage doesn't look that impressive either. Hopefully, this was just a political ploy, rather than the start of something more sinister.
